See central Australia’s most famous sights on a three-day tour from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock (Uluru). You’ll visit the sandstone domes of Kata Tjuta (also known as the Olgas), and watch a stunning sunrise and sunset over Uluru. Get closer to Uluru’s history and mystery on a guided base tour of Ayers Rock, and learn about the rock’s importance to the Australian Aborigines at the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. To experience the magic of the outback at night, enjoy an unforgettable evening of fine food and entertainment under the stars at the Sounds of Silence dinner. Choose from budget, standard, superior or first-class accommodation to suit your preference.

Day 1: Alice Springs -- Ayers Rock Resort
Leaving Alice Springs, travel through the classic outback landscapes of the West MacDonnell and James ranges en route to Ayers Rock. On the way, stop at a desert camel farm for a camel ride (own expense) and take in panoramic views of majestic Atila (Mt Conner).

In the afternoon, visit the magical domes of Kata Tjuta (formerly known as the Olgas) and take a guided walk along a former creek bed winding between the towering domes at Walpa Gorge. As the sun sinks toward the horizon, travel to the sunset viewing area to enjoy nibbles and wine while you watch Uluru’s changing colors.

Overnight: Outback Pioneer Hotel (budget and standard accommodation), Desert Gardens Hotel (superior) or Sails in the Desert (first-class), Ayers Rock

Day 2: Ayers Rock Resort -- Uluru -- Ayers Rock Resort (D)
Wake early to watch Uluru come to life as the sun rises over the desert, and then take a guided coach tour around the base of Uluru. See important Aboriginal sites and hear the traditional legends behind the creation of Uluru, and then visit the Mutitjulu Waterhole to see ancient Aboriginal rock art and hear about the local flora and fauna depicted over the millennia. Next, learn more about the Aboriginal legends and lifestyle at the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can also see locally made arts and crafts.

In the evening, enjoy one of the highlights of your visit to Ayers Rock, the award-winning Sounds of Silence dinner. Dine under the stars on gourmet Australian fare with canapés, a BBQ buffet and dessert. Enjoy the accompanying cultural entertainment, and then join an expert stargazer on a tour of the constellations twinkling above in the desert night sky.

Overnight: your choice of accommodation, Ayers Rock

Day 3: Ayers Rock Resort -- Ayers Rock Airport
Your tour ends with a transfer to Ayers Rock Airport to catch your onward flight.
