Discover the colors, culture, and local hot-spots of the Moroccan city of Fes on a half-day tour that explores the two thousand year old city. Dart through alleys and see the nooks and crannies of the city. Visit a wealth of museums and learn of the city's long history, including the Wood Museum and Museum Batha, with its impressive collection of ceramics.

Head into the heart of the souqs in search of local treasures, including babouches (leather slippers), silver Berber jewelry, pyramids of spices, and famous Moroccan carpets. Learn about the work that goes into traditional Berber carpets at a special demonstration, then head to a pottery cooperative to see how the local ceramics get their distinct cobalt blue finish.

Take a break from the shopping to enjoy an extra strong cup of coffee from a medina café before you leave the souq behind for the multicolored tanneries, where you can snap a photo of the honeycomb vats. Continue to the Medersa Bou Inania, an educational constructed between 1350 and 1356. Beautifully restored, this site is famous for its massive carved brass doors that hide the restful marble-floored space, tinkling fountain and jaw-dropping tile work within. Look out for the mihrab (niche pointing the way to Mecca) with its beautiful ceiling and massive marble columns.

Morocco can be considered a comparably liberal Muslim country as many Moroccan women do not wear headscarves, however Morocco is very conservative by standards many travelers may be accustomed to at home. As a general guideline, shoulders, cleavage and knees should be covered at all times. For both men and women, wearing shorts, low-cut tops, and showing midriff is not recommended as it will restrict your entry into buildings of a religious nature and family homes and is considered disrespectful to the local culture. Light-colored, lightweight long-sleeved shirts, trousers and skirts are considered respectful in Moroccan culture. It is strongly recommended that you cover your body, to keep you cool in the heat and protect you from the harsh sun. This trip is offered on a join-in basis and has a maximum group size of 12. Tour gratuity is not included and is at your discretion.
