Discover the magnificence of the Mughal Empire on a private day trip to the walled city of Agra! Traveling by train and private vehicle from Delhi, visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal, a beautiful monument to love and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. You’ll see Itmad-ud-daulah’s Tomb plus lesser-known landmarks like Humayun's Tomb Mosque and Mehtab Bagh on a Mughal heritage walk through the rural village of Kachhpura. Railway transfer plus meals (two aboard the train) are included.

Meet your driver at your hotel in Delhi between 4:30 and 5:30am, and transfer by private vehicle to the Delhi railway station. Board the air-conditioned Shatabdi Express and enjoy breakfast onboard. Then, meet your guide after you disembark at the Agra station.

Drive by private vehicle to Agra’s famous Mughal-era monuments for an introduction to the rich history and culture of India. First, stop at Agra Fort, a magnificent treasure of Mughal architecture, built of red sandstone and white marble. Inside Agra Fort, view the remarkable palaces, decorative chambers and hospitable reception rooms. Be awed by the beauty of the fort’s marvelous mosques, including Pearl Mosque (Moti Masjid), Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am and Sheesh Mahal.

Step back into your vehicle for a drive to the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, considered a jewel of Muslim art in India. This white-domed marble mausoleum was built as a token of love and devotion by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his beloved third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. As you tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site, your guide will point out the renowned Mughal architecture, a design that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian styles.

After a delicious Indian lunch, visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-daulah (translated as pillar of the state). As you tour the mausoleum, which inspired the construction of the Taj Mahal, learn how Nur Jahan, wife of Emperor Jehangir, commissioned it for her father.

Afterward, drive to the ancient village of Kachhpura for your Mughal heritage walking tour and gain more insight into Mughal history. Walk to lesser-known, yet significant, Mughal-era monuments including Humayun Mosque and the historical wells of Baoli. Admire Gyarah Sidi, carved from a single stone and situated at the edge of the River Yamuna, overlooking Agra Fort.

Follow your guide on foot through rustic Kachhpura, where you’ll be welcomed with an Aarti ritual complete with garlands! Experience an authentic side of rural India that you've probably never seen before, including a street play presented by the town’s youth. Learn about India’s rural lifestyle as you check out the traditional art form of Sanjhi – paper stencils drawn on the walls by young girls.

Observe the wonderful hospitality of Kachhpura with a visit to the tea terrace, including photo-worthy views of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Finally, take a leisurely stroll in the Mehtab Bagh and enjoy another stunning view of the Taj Mahal – this time at sunset!

Your guide will return you to the Agra railway station to board the 8:30pm train back to Delhi. Enjoy a leisurely dinner on board, and meet your driver upon arrival at the station for return transport to your hotel.
