Ride on horseback past villages and Angkor temples in the Cambodian countryside! Immerse yourself in the local life outside Siem Reap during this 2-hour experience with a knowledgeable guide. You’ll observe farmers in the rice fields and local craftsmen at work en route to Wat Athvea (Prasat Vat Althea) where you can explore the pagoda and temple grounds. Numbers are limited to 16 people, ensuring an intimate experience with a small group.

After hotel pickup by air-conditioned minivan in the morning or afternoon, your guide will transport your small group to the Cambodian countryside south of Siem Reap — a distance of approximately 4 miles (6 km). Once you’re matched with a horse to suit your riding ability, saddle up and take to the trail to explore the region of Angkor.

Follow your guide past villages such as Borbos, Treak, Krasang Roleung and Kantrok, where you can stop to observe local craftspeople at work. Learn about the art of basketmaking from your guide as you watch villagers expertly create wares to hold flowers, fruit and other products.

During your horseback ride, venture past local monasteries and pagodas such as Wat Chork (Chork Pagoda). Make a stop at the 12th-century Hindu temple of Wat Athvea at Angkor, where you’ll disembark from your horse to explore. Located in a more secluded region away from Angkor’s main attractions, the well-maintained pagoda of Wat Athvea offers tranquil surroundings — including a temple garden — for beautiful photos. Next to the ancient sandstone structure you’ll find an active Buddhist temple, which you can enter for an additional fee.

Once you’ve taken in the sights of the countryside, cool off with complimentary bottled water and a cold towel. Your tour ends with return transport to Siem Reap and drop-off at your hotel.
